Final Blog post

I would say that this class has been very interesting for me. I enjoyed learning the different aspects of group work and how to function in a group. These skills are important in everyday life because they will probably still be used in the future. For the first project, collaboration project 1, it gave me the vital skills, meaning the five stages of group dynamics, in order to understand how a group functions. In this up-and-coming group project that we have to present on Thursday, I took those skills and adapted them into this project.  This project is a little bit more researched based in that we needed to research and gather information about a particular topic one chooses. For our topic, we chose to do online therapy and we are advocating that people should use it more often since it is less expensive than normal therapy sessions. Being able to work in groups is an important part of collaboration which is an important part in everyday life.  The two people that I would like to talk about that have influenced me for my blog posts are Bria and Beau.  I liked how Bria combined a lot of lecture material in her blog posts to solidify what we have been learning. I also liked how Beau in one his blog posts used his own personal experiences with social media to reflect on an interview that he had. I would like to nominate Bria because she seems to understand the material very well and does a very good job discussing the content.

My Role for Collaboration Project Two

For my next blog post, I would like to write about my role in collaboration project two.  My group told me that I had to provide examples of pros and cons of online therapy.  While researching these topics I’ve learned that this could be a great tool for someone who may be busy or may not have access to a counselor.  Also, while researching this I found out that some insurance companies may not cover the type of treatment that one may need.  Someone in my group was asked to research an actual online therapy website tilted talkspace.org. It will be interesting to see what everybody’s part looks like in the actual video format that we were asked to do. For the most part, this project ran pretty smoothly in constructing the actual project. These two group projects will help me gain valuable skills and harnessing group work in the future.

Wikipedia post

For my next blog post, I would like to talk about our recent class activity about editing Wikipedia. Thursday in class, we had to edit Wikipedia and find an article that was relevant to our project. This is interesting because you’re almost having to fact check a lot of stuff in order to make sure that the information is reliable.  For another class that I had to take, I have an assignment that said that I had to edit it and I remember editing Maroon Five’s Wikipedia page.  What I find interesting was that in class, you mentioned that Encyclopedia Britannica and Wikipedia both have the same amount of errors. Wikipedia is meant to be a free encyclopedia.  While Encyclopedia Britannica is supposedly edited by elite for people with higher knowledge.  That being said anyone can edit Wikipedia, such as Stephen Colbert, who decided to edit the “African Elephant” page and said their population tripled.
