When reading the top
hat Reading to complete your assignment one notices that there are five factors
that go into performance. They are
speed, visuals, performance, inclusiveness and masked. This chapter mostly focused
on protest and using those theories and explaining how the protest works with
the theories. In this particular blog post I like to focus on the use of speed.
When conducting a protest one needs to be able to react quickly and be mobile
with their decisions. This allows various protest movements such as black lives
matter and other protesters mentioned in this chapter to hold a successful protest
movement. For me I feels like a successful protest must-have visualization
speed and performance in order to convey a message across a wide array of
people. When reading this it was
interesting because one would probably never think about the factors that go
into making a protest when they’re trying to go against a norm of some kind.

For my next blog post
I would like to talk about Chapter 4 on top hat. It discusses the use of algorithms.
According to top hat, algorithms are a set up as step-by-step instructions in
order to perform a task at hand or get something done (Top Hat). Websites have
many algorithms that we may or may not know about in order to fully use them. Humans
have types of algorithms because we need instructions in order to perform
certain tasks at hand. For example, when writing a paper, one may need to have
a prompt. Later on in the chapter it says humans teach machines algorithms. This
goes well with practicing something in order to get good at it. Looking at it
in this perspective is a unique idea and one could argue that humans have some
type of algorithm similar to machines that use some type of code based language.
Post about the actual presentation on Thursday
For my next blog post
I would like to talk about my group’s presentation and how we well did. Our group presentation for our project was on
Thursday and we presented to the class.
My group chose the popular TV show friends and analyzed the five stages
of group dynamics according to the reading.
We had a little technical difficulty because we couldn’t access part of
our website but we managed to pull it all together and we were right at 10
minutes where we needed to be. From this experience, we learn what to do and
what not to do when presenting. Through various group meetings we were able to
finally solidify the ideas for each member of the group. I’m not the biggest
fan group projects but I will try to be more open to this idea in the future
since we may have some more in this class.
